Biology Club Meeting Minutes 2002

Meeting started at 5PM by Alex Ashton. Agenda included: reference to
the Natural Areas Conference in Asheville on Oct... 2-5 by Dr.. Pearson;
recycling program in Gibson and Fox along with sign-up sheets; budget
report given by Brandi Sigmon; community projects, homecoming float,
tree planting on campus, and river clean-up; dues due by the end on
September.
If you have not signed-up for dates on the recycling program sheet e-mail,
call, or see one of the officers for available dates (there are several
to be filled.
The next Biology Club meeting will be September 26, 02 at 5PM in Wall
room 200

Alex lead the meeting with discussion in:
- keeping and selling of aluminum cans collected
in the recycling program to add to the Biology
Club fund; a vote was taken by those attending and was
passed to keep and sell the cans for the Biology Club fund
- Dr. Pearson suggested that we use the Biology
Departments website as a Biology Club posting site
for easy access by those interested in the club
- sign-up for community projects was done with the two
projects being (1) the Homecoming Float and (2) the
river clean-up; all who attended signed-up for one
of the two projects **note** all are required to sign up for the
recycling program in Fox or Gibson and at least one of the community projects
- the float theme this year is "All Roads Lead to Mars
Hill College" and if you have an idea for a float send
it to Brandi Sigmon at e-mail bas02 or see her and
give her your "written" idea
- Sexual Harassment Forum was held last night 10-1 with
Ben Jackson and Rocky Oates as Biology Club representatives
- suggested to coordinate with the Library staff for white
paper recycling in the computer labs and library, Alex
will look into this further and report at the next
meeting.
There were 11 members present at the meeting on 9-26-02.
